Overview
Hansary Laforest is a trial attorney with over eight years of courtroom experience on both the state and federal levels.  His practice is focused on handling civil, criminal, and commercial litigation matters across many industries including transportation, insurance, and professional services. 

After beginning his career in New York in the public sector as a prosecutor, he moved to Texas where he transitioned to the private sector by starting his own litigation practice. As a solo practitioner, Hansary has practiced in several different areas, including commercial litigation, criminal defense, and family law litigation. Upon moving to Oregon in 2018, Hansary continued practicing family law before joining Sussman Shank's litigation team in 2019.

Hansary graduated from Fordham University School of Law in 2011. During his time at Fordham, he served as a coach and competitor on the school's arbitration team. Upon graduation, he was honored for his community service with the 2011 Student Leadership Award, and the 2011 Archibald R. Murray Public Service Award.

Hansary is admitted to practice in Oregon, Texas, New York, and New Jersey.  This experience with multiple jurisdictions brings a unique courtroom perspective and expertise to the firm and to Hansary's practice.

Representative Matters
  • Successfully defended national security company in plaintiff's motion to strike critical affirmative defense.
  • Defended federal aviation contractor in breach of contract lawsuit with corporate plaintiff with claims in excess of $1 million.
  • Successfully pursued and obtained protective order concerning plaintiff's request for corporate deposition in negligence action.
  • Successfully mediated and obtained settlement agreement in a multi-party negligence action involving several trucking companies and motorist.
