Sussman Shank is proud to share that Hansary “Hans” Laforest has been named to the Portland Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 list—a well-deserved recognition of his leadership, professionalism, dedication, and humble character. Hans embodies the values we strive for every day: integrity, excellence, and a genuine commitment to serving clients and our community.

Hans is a seasoned trial lawyer who litigates complex civil and commercial cases across Oregon, Washington, and Idaho, bringing a broad national perspective to every courtroom. He has litigated legal matters across a variety of industries, including railroad, trucking and transportation, and banking industries. Hans also has extensive experience in helping individual professionals in the fields of healthcare, insurance, and real estate.

In addition to his legal work, Hans is currently on the board of the Multnomah Bar Association, and the Oregon Chapter of the National Bar Association (OC-NBA), Oregon’s Black Bar Association. He is also an active member of the Bend Chamber Advocacy Council and is a co-chair of Sussman Shank’s Diversity Committee.
