Join us in welcoming Summer Associate Mikaela Marino to the Sussman Shank team. Mikaela is currently a second-year law student at Lewis & Clark Law School, where she was awarded the Pro Bono Honors Award and First Year Best Oral Advocate in her first year. She also earned her B.A. in Anthropology from Loyola University Chicago.

During her time in Portland, Mikaela has taken on numerous volunteer challenges working with the Catholic Charities Immigration Legal Services, PCC Clear Clinic, Oregon Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts, and Legal Aid Services of Oregon as a Law Clerk.

“I’m looking forward to gaining practical legal experience and learning from seasoned attorneys at Sussman Shank.  I’m excited for the opportunity to hone my legal skills and build a strong foundation for my future legal career,” says Mikaela.

Mikaela’s an avid soccer fan and loves to play pickup soccer with some of her friends or play with a local league. “I have played soccer since I was a toddler and it always brings me joy.”

We are thrilled to have Mikaela join us this summer!

About Our Summer Associate Program

Our summer associate program is designed to give law students exposure to real-world law firm experience through a diverse range of opportunities and assignments in many of the firm’s practice areas.  Our goal is to provide students with substantive and practical knowledge by working closely with attorneys on individualized assignments.  We also take pride in introducing students to the culture of our firm and to our people through social events organized during the summer in Portland.
