Sussman Shank LLP is pleased to announce that Heather A. Kmetz was elected Managing Partner effective February 2, 2026. In addition, William (Bill) G. Fig was elected to serve on the firm’s Management Committee, joining Douglas R. Ricks.
Heather succeeds Susan Ford, who previously served as Managing Partner and as a member of the Management Committee. The partners of the firm express their deepest gratitude to Susan for her dedicated service and leadership contributions.
Heather brings a wealth of experience to her new role, having served as a member of the Management Committee since 2022, Chair of the Tax and Trusts & Estates practice groups, and former chair of the firm’s Business practice group. Her insight into the business of law, combined with a steady understanding of the firm’s values and culture, makes her well suited for this next phase. Heather has been recognized for her generosity with time and insight, as a mentor to emerging tax lawyers.
