After 38 years of dedicated service to Sussman Shank, Julie Seguin, a cherished member of the litigation department, is bidding farewell as she embarks on a well-deserved retirement.

Throughout her tenure, Julie has exemplified unwavering dedication, resourcefulness, and high integrity in her roles as a Legal Assistant, Paralegal, and Litigation Technology Specialist. Her competence, combined with a strong work ethic, has left a permanent mark on the firm’s success and the countless clients she has served.

Julie’s friendly, approachable attitude and genuine care for her colleagues have fostered a sense of camaraderie within the firm, earning her the respect and admiration of all who have had the pleasure of working alongside her. Her commitment to delivering top-notch work and professionalism has set an example for all of us, something we’ll always remember about her.

Reflecting on her time at the firm, Julie expressed her gratitude for the relationships she has cultivated over the years, likening the firm to a second family. “After so many years, Sussman Shank feels more like a family than a workplace to me,” says Julie.

What made you stay at the firm for so long?

“It was a combination of things. I enjoyed what I did and the people I worked with. I had the privilege of working closely with attorneys whom I greatly respected, and we shared similar working styles. Additionally, the firm always showed willingness to accommodate flexibility, including opportunities for job sharing and transitioning to different positions within the firm.”

What are some life skills you learned while working at Sussman Shank?

“I basically grew up at the firm, so I think I learned a lot.  Problem solving, resourcefulness, communications skills, and so much more!”

Who or what has inspired you most at SSLLP?

“When I was young and during the first few years I worked here, I realized the firm as a whole valued people.  The firm’s founders, and the partners set an example of treating employees, clients and opposing parties/attorneys with respect and I admired that.  Stuart Teicher and Karen Muir in particular inspired me to do my absolute best on everything – professionalism, work product, being educated on rules and etiquette – things that I still strive for every day.”

As Julie embarks on this new chapter, the entire Sussman Shank family extends their heartfelt thanks and best wishes for a fulfilling retirement. Her countless contributions will forever be cherished, and her presence will be greatly missed.

We will not be saying “good-bye” to Julie; instead, we will be saying “bye-for now.” Thank you, Julie, for your service, loyalty, and friendship!
