For nearly three decades, Susan has been a mentor, trusted friend, and an important part of the firm’s culture. We are proud to celebrate the incredible years of Susan’s leadership, influence, accomplishments, and contributions to the firm and to the legal industry.

The firm congratulates Susan on a remarkable career and wishes her all the best in her future endeavors.

“Susan has been a staple of Sussman Shank, and particularly its Bankruptcy/Restructuring group, for more than 20 years. Susan set a wonderful example for women lawyers, having successfully managed the unique challenges women lawyers face in the workplace.  Her talent, her presence, her skill, and sense of humor and laugh will be missed by all of us.  I know I speak for everyone at Sussman Shank in wishing Susan a long, healthy, and fulfilling new chapter.” – Howard Levine

“Supporting Susan over the years has been an adventure! We navigated countless changes, challenges, and milestones together. What made Susan so special to work with was the respect she had for her staff. She treated us as equals, valued our experience, listened to our concerns, and regularly consulted us on cases. She made us feel that our opinions mattered and that we were truly part of a team. She has always been supportive of us and never hesitated to do what was needed to get the job done. We learned so much from watching the way she practiced law, handled challenges, and cared for the people around her. Her influence will have a lasting impact on those that worked with her. We will cherish not only what we learned from Susan, but also the friendship, laughter, and memories we created along the way. We won’t forget what a “tiger” she was in court. Always fighting her position until the finish. She was fierce, an incredible writer, and an excellent and respected attorney.” – Janine Hume and Majesta Racanelli

“Almost from her arrival in 1998, Susan has been a superstar in our firm and Bankruptcy Group. Susan showed the essence of how all of us can be successful in all aspects of being a lawyer. Because of her prowess as a bankruptcy lawyer and her reputation in the bar, she was a Best Lawyer and Super Lawyer early in her career here.  But she did not need those accolades because those of us who practiced with her knew she was a best and super lawyer who contributed significantly to the continuing legacy in Sussman Shank. Her retirement is well earned and understandable.  She will be missed. – Barry Caplan

During her 28-year career with the firm, Susan earned a reputation for exceptional legal judgment, integrity, and dedication. Susan also played an important role in mentoring generations of attorneys and helping shape the firm’s culture and continued success. She has been an extraordinary lawyer, leader, colleague, and friend. We are deeply grateful for her many contributions and for the countless clients and colleagues whose lives she has positively influenced.  Susan leaves an enduring legacy, and we will miss her tremendously.” – Steven Seguin
