In light of the violence at the Capitol on January 6th and its apparent planning on social media platforms, the increasing spread of disinformation and hate speech leading up to the violence, and bipartisan calls for internet speech regulation, this town hall will explore the origins of internet content regulation, the current social media regulatory landscape compared to that of other traditional media such as TV/print/ radio, and how future regulations could impact the rights of social media companies, creators, and consumers.
