Professional Experience
Martin Meyers has substantial experience in the areas of commercial litigation, collections and bankruptcy.
Martin started out his legal career in New Mexico. Martin and the commercial attorneys with whom he practiced first comprised the Albuquerque office of the Houston law firm Dickerson, Hamel, Early and Pennock, which later became the Albuquerque office of Hinkle, Cox, Eaton, Coffield and Hensley. In 1993, Martin was made partner in the Hinkle law firm.
Martin's clientele during this period of time ranged from individual businessmen to institutional lenders, banks, and savings institutions. His practice was not limited to foreclosure and insolvency work but also extended to many other areas of commercial litigation, often involving Martin in substantial trial work and/or complex negotiated workouts. As his practice gradually concentrated almost exclusively to bankruptcy law, Martin came to represent several New Mexico bankruptcy trustees and other commercial clients regarding most all aspects of bankruptcy law.
In 1995, Martin resigned from the Hinkle law firm, closed his New Mexico practice and, along with his wife and two children, moved to the Northwest. For the next four years while his wife established her professional career, Martin stayed home to raise his children and then joined Sussman Shank, LLP in September of 1999. His specialty remains bankruptcy and workout cases, with an increasing concentration on preference and other bankruptcy avoidance issues. Martin represents clients in bankruptcy cases and litigation in Oregon and Washington and throughout the nation, as the need arises.
