Overview
Rob is a business litigator with experience representing clients in complex disputes and government investigations.

Rob has a broad range of litigation experience including antitrust and competition law, white collar defense and investigations, commercial litigation, and securities litigation and regulation.  Rob has advised and represented leading companies and individuals in matters involving a variety of industries and technologies, including consumer electronics, telecommunications, online retail, energy, gaming, and semiconductors. 

Rob has extensive experience in all stages of discovery efforts and claim investigation including drafting discovery requests, preparing clients and witnesses for deposition, managing large scale document discovery, and motions practice.  Additionally, Rob's work includes trial preparation and briefing as well as active roles on trial teams. 

Rob also has experience in pro bono matters relating to immigration, housing, and criminal defense issues. 

Prior to joining Sussman Shank, Rob was a senior litigation associate at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP in San Francisco, California. 

During law school, Rob served as a judicial intern to the Honorable Douglas P. Woodlock of the District Court of Massachusetts.  He also served as an Executive Editor of the University of Michigan Journal of Law Reform and as President of the Asian Pacific-American Law Students Association.

Representative Matters
  • Helped to obtain antitrust clearance for a leading telecommunications company regarding its multi-billion dollar acquisition of a major television provider.  Advised the company on antitrust issues pursuant to federal merger review, with a focus on emerging technologies and prospective areas of competition.
  • Defended lithium-ion batteries manufacturer in federal, multidistrict proceedings regarding antitrust claims made by direct and indirect purchasers.  Served as a lead associate in all pre-trial discovery matters for all proceedings.  
  • Represented a multinational energy company in multiple litigations in the U.S. stemming from the company's efforts to expose and prevent enforcement of a fraudulently-obtained $9 billion foreign judgment.  Worked on extensive discovery, investigation, and motions practice issues and served on the trial team that won a two-month RICO trial before the Southern District of New York, obtaining a verdict finding that the foreign judgment was procured by fraud. 
  • Represented a multinational gaming company and affiliated directors in a civil shareholder class action and derivative litigation in Delaware's Court of Chancery in relation to a multi-billion dollar stock transaction.
  • Served on trial team on behalf of plaintiffs challenging California's ban on same-sex marriage, Proposition 8, on Constitutional grounds.
